    Maplin Store Rollout

JSJS Designs Plc (“JSJS” or “the Company”), the home automation specialist, is pleased to announce a major store rollout of its JSJS Lightwave product range by Maplin, the specialist electrical and electronic retailer.

Maplin has confirmed that having undertaken a 20 store rollout (announced in February 2013) it now wishes to extend the rollout commencing in June to a further 120 stores by October 2013. The rollout alone is estimated by the directors to be worth over £250,000 in stocking orders.

Commenting on the rollout Mike Lord JSJS Chairman and CEO said “Sales traction for our products is now much more significant and this vote of confidence from Maplin takes us up another level. In addition we also have a sales pipeline of other household names which we expect to add further to this in the coming months”

The company also announces that it now has 10,000 users using its online services to remotely manage their homes on a daily basis. This compares to 6000 users at the beginning of the year and shows an increasing trend of adoption of the Company’s products and services. This is supported further by the Beta testing of the companies new range of Apps preparing for the launch of its next generation of heating control products.

The Company will be releasing its interim results for the six months ended 31 March 2013 in the week commencing 24 June 2013.

Comment: This is all positive news. Not quite sure what they are on about regarding the beta testing, but hey, all positive news is welcome. Maplin aren’t exactly the cheapest retailer of LightwaveRF on the planet, but they do have a very loyal customer base and this is obviously working well for them. Hopefully with this stocking order and the money raised from the share placing earlier in the year, we may now see some new products starting to hit our shores. I’m lead to believe the LED strips are not far away. Full disclosure: I own a number of shares in JSJS Designs.

Sounds good. I alone must have spent a few hundred quid on LWRF parts in Maplin over the past few weeks… Shame the staff don’t really know much about it in the stores but I’m sure that’ll be taken care of as part of a more focused roll out.

What’s the chance we’ll be able to pop into our nearest Maplin store to pick up a new TRV on a lunch break in a few weeks/months?

    Matt

Lighting: LWRF LED strips, In-line dimmers, In-line relays and Plug-in modules,
Inputs: Master mood switch, Magnetic door sensors, Handheld remote,
Controller: Domoticz running on Raspberry Pi with RFXCom. Plus recently a stack of Z-Wave units!

That is good news. Hopefully they may also invest a few pennies in a Marketing assistant to keep their website and social media presence up to date !

B&Q staff don’t know much either and it isn’t immediately obvious what it is all about. But once you understand it all, it’s a great product. I’ve even had some custom triple & doubles made up with Master/Slave combinations that I got my electrician to fit as I wasn’t confident about the two way existing wiring setup for my Lounge,Stairs & landing. His team was impressed with it all also and have already recommended it to others who had automation requirements.

I’m currently running a Pi using domoticz along side the Wifi link at the moment. The domoticz team seem to be working on logic based sequences which should make this extremely powerful.

Lightwave switches, sockets, PIRs, contact sensors, LED strips & relays. Running on RaspberryPi with Domoticz to incorporate RF temperature sensors & IP cams. Still running WiFi link alongside!

Some good news indeed, Maplin’s user-base demographic is better suited to this sort of product than B&Q’s IMHO.

As for app beta testing at last…. well 😉 😉

Oh, does that mean you are helping with the beta testing Andre? Does the 😉 mean you are under an NDA?

I don’t see why not, there was nothing asking me to keep any general info confidential.

So far, it looks like a cross between the old web-based system and the third-party Android app, with a generally large, clear interface. No need to log on every session (yay!). It auto-switches between Wi-Fi-local and remote network modes (although I’m having trouble testing remote operation due to my ongoing Wi-Fi link server connection issue).

Setup and editing of rooms (now called Zones), devices, moods and sequences (now called Events) seems nice, but needs a bit more work – e.g. the app needs a better way to move stuff up and down through lists (there a clunky up-arrow button feature at the moment – needs at least a down-arrow too, but dragging would be better).

There are Home and Away special events with large buttons to trigger them, but not sure if these can be automated (apart from timer schedules) and a bit too easy to hit by accident too.

Works on my phone and tablet, but won’t rotate to landscape mode for the tablet.
